Our Three-Staged Approach

We will help develop your Strategic Plan over a 3-Stage process. This process allows us to:

  1. Prepare for the strategic planning Retreat;
  2. Facilitate the strategic planning portion of the retreat effectively; and
  3. Develop a strategic plan based on your desired business results.

Stage 1 - Pre-Retreat Activities

Developing a strategic plan does not “happen in a vacuum” and, accordingly, we believe it is crucial to conduct due diligence in advance of the Retreat. Stage 1 allows us to gather information about your firm so we may begin developing an understanding of your financial situation, compensation plans, HR environment and other matters that can directly and indirectly affect the development of your Strategic Plan. Stage 1 of our process may include, but not be limited to:

  • Reviewing financial results
  • Reviewing your partner compensation plan
  • Surveying certain members of your firm (joint decision on most appropriate team members to survey)

Stage 2 - Strategic Planning Retreat Facilitation

At TGP we believe a proven strategic planning process is crucial in assisting your firm develop a comprehensive strategic plan that provides CLEAR guidance. To this end, we will utilize a process that allows your firm to:

  • Develop its strategic goals
  • Create financial and non-financial measures to chart progress towards your goals
  • Translate your goals into specific action steps
  • Create a system of accountability

The strategic planning retreat is a 2-day process that should take place off-site.

Stage 3- Post-Retreat Activities

During Stage 3, TGP will finalize and document the retreat discussions. We will work with several members of your team to put the finishing touches on your strategic plan. Part of the deliverable will be a graphically designed 1-page overview of the Mission, Vision, Values and top level goals that can be duplicated and shared with the entire firm. This document is crucial to making sure EVERYONE in the firm is on the same page, literally and figuratively.
