Partner Compensation
According to a number of recent studies, more and more accounting firms want to place greater emphasis on performance-based pay for both partners and staff members. Most, however, have done little to implement pay-for-performance systems, much less ensure such an approach to compensation is successful in meeting their goals.
At The Growth Partnership, we have developed a framework, (which was featured in the July 2003 edition of the Journal of Accountancy), for creating effective partner and staff performance management and compensation systems. These evaluation and payment systems help provide people with the knowledge, skills, and motivation needed to help the firm reach its goals and objectives.
For pay-for-performance systems to work, however, employees must be involved in every step of the way. TGP’s framework helps firms send a message to employees that the firm cares about them as much as it cares about profits. The process develops behaviors in individuals that not only help the firm make money but also help them evolve as individuals. It’s about helping people and the firm get results now in a way that helps them get even better results in the future.
